Abstract:

Quantum discord is a new kind of quantum correlation different from entanglement, proposed in 2001, by H. Ollivier and H. Zurek (Physics Review Letters vol. 88, 017901) and, independently, by L. Henderson and V. Vedral(Journal of Physics A 34, 6899). Quantum discord includes correlations that are due to quantum physical effects but do not necessarily involve quantum entanglement. In this talk, I will introduce the basic definition and some application of quantum discord.
