Abstract:
In traditional condensed matter theory, we usually focus on equilibrium properties and linear response, while various phenomena beyond thermal equilibrium are still unknown to us. Recently, dynamic processes in quantum many-body systems become popular research topics and new progress in AMO experiments also enables quantum simulation for quantum dynamics. In this talk, I will introduce some frontier topics in quantum dynamics including quantum thermodynamics, information scrambling and dynamical phase transition. If time permits, I could have more detailed discussions on these topics with all audiences.
Prerequisites: statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, and basic knowledge of condensed matter theory would be helpful.
Short Bio:
Hongkun Chen is an undergraduate student in the physics department of Tsinghua University. His major research interests are condensed matter theory and AMO theory. He would join Princeton University for graduate study in 2023 fall.
