Yao Class Welcomes Freshman 2014

Freshmen of Yao Class 2014 registered on Aug. 27, 2014, while Yao Class admission from other departments of Tsinghua University was also started. Prof. Xu Chen, Chairperson of University Council, paid a visit to the registration court and showed concern about Yao Class admission. This year, 30 students in total were admitted as Yao Class freshmen.
Yao Class admission attracted over 150 freshmen from other departments who submitted their application forms. Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, IIIS Dean and winner of the A.M. Turing Award in 2000, hosted the interview of this year. Prof. Longbo Huang, program director of Yao Class, hosted and gave a general introduction to Yao Class at “Yao Class Admission Talk 2014”on the evening of Aug. 27th. Prof. Gerard de Melo, Alioscia Hamma, Jian Li, Wei Xu, Jianyang Zeng and Xiongfeng Ma introduced Yao Class curriculum with their research fields and encouraged talented freshmen to join Yao Class.
Teachers and student volunteers from IIIS joined Yao Class admission 2014, taking questions from freshman and their parents and providing help to them.
