CQT Delegation Team visits IIIS and CQI

Delegation team of Centre for Quantum Technologies, the National University of Singapore headed by Director Prof. Artur Ekert paid a visit to IIIS and CQI on August 30. The team is made up of Deputy Director Prof. Lai Choy Heng, Principal Investigator Prof. Oh Choo Hiap, Principal Investigator Prof. Kwek Leong Chuan and Senior Manager Ms. Chan Chui Theng. Tsinghua Vice President Prof. Yong Qiu met with the delegation. IIIS Dean and CQI Director Prof. Andrew Yao, IIIS Deputy Dean and CQI Deputy Director Prof. Amy Wang and CQI Associate Director Prof. Luming Duan joined the meeting.

During the meeting hosted by Prof. Amy Wang, Prof. Andrew Yao gave an overview of research work at IIIS. He said that science and education has been high on China’s national agenda and the key to success lies in recruitment of talents and nurturing talents. There will be tremendous investments in resources in next 5 years and Tsinghua University has been vanguard of the effort. He also introduced the Institute’s efforts on international exchange and cooperation and looked forward to collaborating with CQT in future. Prof. Luming Duan and Prof. Kihwan Kim joined the meeting and presented the development of CQI and current research projects.

Following the meeting, the delegation team visited CQI lab and was impressed by its progress. CQT Director Prof. Artur Ekert gave a talk entitled “Less Reality,More Security” at IIIS Institute Seminar in the afternoon.

Both CQT and IIIS are devoted to bringing together physicists and computer scientists in an interdisciplinary environment. We look forward to fruitful cooperation between two research institutes.
