(By Fang Peng) On May 16, 2015, IIIS Physics Undergraduates Summer School was held in the Teaching Building 6, with attendance of 52 senior students from home distinguished universities. The summer school was opened by Prof. Luming Duan, Tsinghua CC Yao Professor, Michigan Enrico Fermi Collegiate Professor, who delivered the first talk, entitled “Introduction to Frontier of Quantum Information”. In his talk, Prof. Duan made an overview of quantum information, extended his talk to quantum computer and quantum network through Moore’s law, and concluded his talk with a brief introduction to Center for Quantum Information (CQI).

Then IIIS faculty members, Kihwan Kim, Luyan Sun, Alioscia Hamma, Mile Gu, Xiongfeng Ma and Man-Hong Yung respectively gave invited talks on a range of topics from quantum theory and foundations, superconducting, trapped ions, quantum entanglement to quantum cryptograph, quantum simulation, quantum computation complexity.
The two-day’s summer school provided a great chance for students from different universities to learn from academics, which helped enrich their research experience, and inspire them to pursue scientific careers in quantum research.
