Abstract:
Integrated quantum photonics platforms, capable of integrating photon sources, quantum circuits and photon detectors on semiconductor chips by exploring micro- or nano-fabrication technologies, promise unprecedented complexity, scalability and robustness for quantum information science and technology, including quantum communication, metrology, simulation and computing. In this talk, we will discuss integrated hardware for encoding, control, conversion, and measurement of quantum states in photon’s path, spin and orbital angular momentum degrees of freedom. We will also discuss the possibility of increasingly sophisticated functionality and the promise of manufacturability towards fully integrated photonic quantum computing, simulation, and communication systems.
Short Bio:
Jianwei Wang is a Research Assistant of the Centre for Quantum Photonics (CQP) at the University of Bristol, UK. His current research interests focus on the development of photonic integrated circuits for quantum information science and technology, ranging from prototypes for scalable quantum communication and quantum computing to generalized quantum measurements and quantum control. He received his BS (2008) and MS (2011) in Optical Engineering in Zhejiang University for works on integrated photonics, and he finished PhD thesis (2015) in Physics in the University of Bristol with experimental efforts on exploring integrated photonics technologies for the generation, manipulation, transmission and analysis of light’s quantum states.
