Tsinghua University-China Quantum Technologies Corporation Joint Laboratory for Quantum Network Unveiled

On Sep 12, Tsinghua University-China Quantum Technologies Corporation Joint Laboratory for Quantum Network was unveiled in Tsinghua University, with the presence of Vice President of Tsinghua University Prof. Qikun Xue, Dean of IIIS Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, President of China Quantum Technologies Corporation Wenzhao Cao, CC Yao Professor Luming Duan and Director of China Quantum Technologies Corporation Prof. Yixian Yang. It is a great action of Tsinghua University in quantum information field.

In the past years, Center for Quantum Information of Tsinghua University undertook numbers of national scientific research projects and built Trapped Ions Lab, Diamond Defect Spin Lab, Superconducting Quantum Computing Lab, and Quantum Optics Lab, getting a series of innovative achievements and having core experimental technique. The center published several heavyweight research results in Nature and Science, aroused wide attention in international academic world, expanding China’s international influence in quantum information field.

Tsinghua University-China Quantum Technologies Corporation Joint Laboratory for Quantum Network will integrate academic and corporate resources, cooperate in quantum information and quantum measurement with high-qualified research. The joint laboratory will focus on key quantum devices in long range quantum networks. According to the cooperative agreements, the joint laboratory will also cultivate and bring in more talents to create a platform of international academic communication and cooperation.

Prof. Qikun Xue set a high value on Center for Quantum Information’s success in the past few years. He congratulated Tsinghua University-China Quantum Technologies Corporation Joint Laboratory for Quantum Network on the unveiling with great expectation. He believed that the cooperation between Tsinghua University and China Quantum Technologies Corporation would make a substantial contribution to quantum information development in China.

Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao introduced the academic development of the joint laboratory in his speech. Center for Quantum Information has solid research foundation in quantum repeater, which is the key device for realizing long range quantum communication. DLCZ（Duan-Lukin-Cirac-Zoller）created by Prof. Luming Duan laid the foundation of the field of experimental realization of quantum repeater, which is one of the hot key issues in quantum information field all over the world.

President Wenzhao Cao gave an enthusiastic speech, expressing his expectation to the joint laboratory. Since it was established, China Quantum Technologies Corporation has been focused on the development and production of quantum communication equipment and the construction of quantum communication networks.

Prof. Luming Duan will be the first director of the joint laboratory, while Prof. Yao as the director of Steering Committee and Chairman of China Quantum Technologies Corporation Shaohui Zheng as the associate director.
